Detailed History
Two American B-17G Flying Fortress 42-37963 and 42-231370 of the 549th Bomb squadron and 550th Bomb Squadron of the 385th Bomb Group crashed at Reedham Marshes on 21 February 1944. Both crews of ten each were killed.
The aircraft had been returning from a raid on Diepholz in North West Germany and were approaching their base at Great Ashfield when they crashed. The Reedham memorial remembers the fallen.
