Billie Ramsey was Left Waist Gunner on B-17F #42-29656 "Skunkface" of 91st Bomb Group / 322nd Bomb Squadron, shot down by fighters on a mission to Leipzig on 20 February 1944. Crashed NNW of Mons, Belgium. Missing Air Crew Report - MACR 2460. Prisoner of War (POW). Landed in the middle of the Luftwaffe air base at Chièvres, Belgium. Immediately captured like some other members of the crew, Ramsey tried to evade together with Navigator Lt Billie Huish from the place where the Germans had put them all. Huish managed to evade (and was later killed in a massacre - see his page), but Ramsey was caught again and interned at Stalag Luft 4, Gross Tychow (Tychowo), Poland.
