Detailed History
The Eagle Squadrons Memorial in Grosvenor Square London was erected in 1985.
It commemorates the airmen who served with the Royal Air Force as part of the three Eagle Squadrons from 1940 to 1942, listing the names of 289 American and British fighter pilots.
The memorial was commissioned by Newspaper owner William Randolph Hearst, it was designed by Tim Kempster and the bronze eagle sculpture is by Elizabeth Frink
