Stanley E. Swain was my Father and served in the US Army Air Corp. He became part of the Air Arm of the OSS flight operations located at Harrington, Northampton, UK from 3 June until 12 September 1944. He was a Flight Engineer and Top Turret Gunner in the B-24 'Baby Bug' and 'Baby Bug II' and flew 35 missions over Nazi occupied Europe as part of Captain Runyon P. Coleman's Crew as part of Operation Carpetbagger.
Passing in July of 2002, he took his story to his grave as he had sworn an oath not to speak of it to anyone. Only after his passing did I located his paperwork, records and mementos of where he served and what they did. He is interred at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL with his wife, Catherine, of 50+ years. A credit to his generation and proud of his service to his country.
