From 4 April 1944 to 7 October 1944, he flew 32 missions as a Ball Turret Gunner. On 6 June 1944, D-Day he and his crew flew to Caen, in order to bomb a nearby airfield. However, cloud cover prevented Perez's and 5 other aircraft from dropping their payloads.
