Delivered Long Beach 31/1/43; Denver 1/2/43; Assigned 322BG/91BG [LG-X] Bassingbourn 25/3/43; Missing in Action 8m Huls 22/6/43 with Paul Kahl, Co-pilot: John Pearse, Navigator: Ely Cohen, Bombardier: Bill Corson, Flight engineer/top turret gunner: George Barnett, Radio Operator: Dan Goldstein, Ball turret gunner: Harry Kline, Waist gunner: Clem Fuller, Waist gunner: Tom Ryan,Tail gunner: Boyd Burkey (10POW- caught Munster/Westphalen area); flak hits, #3 & 4 engines out going down under control, crashed ?. GOLDEN BEAR. The name 'Night Shade' has also been associated with this aircraft, but M/Sgt Murdoch (crew chief) was quoted in Ray Bowden's book 'Plane names and fancy noses' as saying "I never knew or heard of the 'Bear' being called Night Shade".
