42-51181 Cape Cod Special

Received by 44th Bomb Group Between 28 May to 3 June 1944. Flew a Total of Nine (9) missions



On 29 June 1944 on a mission to Magdeburg Cape Cod Special was hit by flak just after bombs away. The aircraft slipped out of formation and in the process collided with B-24 (serial number 41-28829) "My Everlovin Gal". Cape Cod Special's right wing hit My Everlovin Gal close to the top turret, causing the aircraft to explode, Cape cod special then went into a flat spin.
