Request to be declared WW in July 44 was refused and ship was transferred 324BS/91BG [DF-O] Bassingbourn 9/8/44; Missing in Action 3+m Nuemunster 13/4/45 with Elbert Weeks Wounded in Action, Navigator: Lloyd Everett, Bombardier: Marvin Wachtsheim, Flight engineer/top turret gunner: Henry Saunders, Radio Operator: Bernard Bintz, Ball turret gunner: Ben Benigno, Waist gunner: Chas Librizzi,Tail gunner: Joe Albury (8 Returned to Duty); Co-pilot: Gilbert Willis (Killed in Action); damaged when two other B17s exploded in mid air, but force landed on a French US A/fd; Salvaged 17/4/45.
