Bio

I am the niece of the late William ("Mac") James McQuoid, Jr. who was a tail gunner on a B-17 based out of Rattlesden, England. He was killed in action while on his 25th assigned bombing mission to Zwickau on May 12, 1944. His bomber crashed in the vicinity of Friedrichshafen, GE. He was with the 447th BG, 708th Squadron. I am doing research about this event and am trying to gather information about him and his time at Rattlesden for a book I am writing to honor his memory. I am an artist and have drawn several sketches of him and his crew that I will include in the book. Also included will be letters I have that were written to my mother and aunt and also some of the letters that were written to him during the time he was in the U. S. Army Air Corps. Letters from the U.S. War Department and Army will also be included.
