Bio

My name is Kelli Powers Britt of Jackson, Tennessee, United States of America. I recently completed a research project about my Great-Uncle, Sgt. Charles Dause Powers. I used this website and gained valuable information for my project. Uncle Charles served as artillery tail gunner on the plane "The Minuteman", Serial No. 41-31775, and he was lost on the night of March 25, 1944 when his plane suffered flak from the opposition. All six crew members parachuted, with only the pilot and co-pilot being rescued three days later floating in their dinghies in the icy waters of the English Channel. Voices could be heard yelling for help, but the other four crew members, including Uncle Charles, were never recovered. Since it's been seventy-four years, only a couple of family members survive to tell his story. This project became a labor of love, and I seek to learn all I can about Uncle Charles to pay honor and tribute to his memory and his ultimate sacrifice. May God rest his soul along with all of the honorable men and women who serve...Kelli Powers Britt, November 2, 2018.
