Bio

Son of Richard H. Conant, who called himself "Gus" during his service. My Dad was a waist gunner in the Eastman Crew. Crew #13 in the 447th Bomb Group in the 708th Squadron stationed in Rattlesden. He flew his first mission on December 31, 1943 and his thirtieth mission on July 6, 1944. My father was born March 17, 1922 and died August 30, 2012. He never spoke much about his service during the WWII, it is only now that I look at the memorabilia he kept and learn more about the danger he and so many others exposed themselves that I have a true appreciation of his bravery and terrible toll the war took on everyone.
