Tail gunner, Butler crew. Member of the Schultz crew. 381st BG, 533rd BS. Bailed out 5 November 1943 from B-17 #42-29755 'Gremlins Delite'. Mission #42 to the railroad marshalling yards at Gelsenkirchen, Germany. The pilot, Butler landed with 3 crewmembers while the other 6 bailed out over Southern Holland and became POW's.

The 533rd BS War Diary has the men who bailed out as landing near the airfield at West Malling in Kent then returning to duty. The 242nd Medical Detachment War Diary lists them as POW's.

Shot down by fighters and crashed N of Arlon, Belgium returning from the target of Frankfurt am Main, GR on 2 Mar 1944 in B-17G #42-39891. Prisoner of War (POW).
