Yorktown, VA | 12 August 2009 | Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - August 16, 2009 Deceased Name: Otis C. Ingebritsen YORKTOWN - Otis Carroll Ingebritsen, 91, passed away Aug. 12, 2009. Otis was a native of Wisconsin. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Air Force as a B-17 pilot. He was decorated for extraordinary achievement on 25 heavy bombardment missions. Awards include an Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and a Distinguished Flying Cross with one Oak Leaf Cluster. He attended the University of Wisconsin, graduating with a degree in engineering. He came to Virginia in 1947 to work for NASA until his retirement in 1976. Otis enjoyed tennis, woodworking, computers and videography. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. Otis was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Otis is survived by his wife Josephine of 56 years; a son, Kris Ingebritsen of Seaford; a daughter, Ann Morse and her husband John of Chesapeake; a sister, Ethel Lee of Ohio; and four grandchildren, Amber, Tara and Damon Ingebritsen and Jack Morse. Friends are invited to join the family at the MRA Building today from 4 to 6 p.m. for a celebration of his life. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Grace Episcopal Church with the Rev. Carleton Bakkum officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service in the church social hall. |
