Henry Walker Harris

T/Sgt. Radio-gunner Walker Harris of the 489th Bombardment Squadron was shot down on November 4, 1944 in B-25J 9E 43-27746 on a mission to Casale Monferrato. He was the lone survivor of his plane, and was rescued by the Italian Partisans. He fought the Nazis with the Partisans until he was captured and held as a POW, then escaped, and fought alongside the Partisans again, until he was reunited with US troops at the end of the war. He achieved the rank of Master Sergeant before discharge, then received his officer commission in 1948, and served in Army Counter-Intelligence during Korea. He separated in 1957 at the rank of Captain.
