Note : The B-17G, serial number, 44-8080, should not be mistaken for another B-17G, serial number, 42-37895, also named, The Saint, as many WWII warplanes were given similar names by their aircrews.



The B-17G, 44-8080, The Saint, was delivered to, Denver, CO, 2/6/44; Romulus 30//44; Dorval 27/6/44; slated RAF, HB 813; transferred to the 385th Bomb Group; Ashfield, 4/8/44; the 570th Bomb Squadron, 390th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force; [BI-F] Framlingham, 5/8/44.



The aircraft, 44-8080, The Saint, was lost, and failed to return (FTR) from a mission to Merseburg, Germany, 3/1/44. It had a midair collision with, the B-17G, 42-97407, The As-Te-Risk, also from the 390th Bomb Group. Crashed at Flur Oberklobikau, Germany. 30/11/1944. 10 KIA.
