The plane was hit and severely damaged by antiaircraft air bursts while on a bombing mission over Catania Harbor, Sicily. After being hit by the triple A flak over it's target, the plane went into a spin and crashed. 11 May 43. 9 Crewmen KIA. - 1 Crewman bailed out, was captured, and became a POW. MACR 15074.
