 Fate: Mid-air collision - 30 November 1944 - MACR: 11136 

The B-17G, 42-97407, named, The As-Te-Risk, was delivered to Cheyenne, Wyoming, 26/2/44; Kearney 12/3/44; Grenier 2/4/44; Assigned to the 95th Bomb Group, and the 412th Bomb Squadron, [QW-N] Horham 7/4/44; 16m SAD 10/6/44; transferred to the the 390th Bomb Group, and the 570th Bomb Squadron, [DI-V] Framlingham 11/4/44. 

The B-17G, The As-Te-Risk, was lost, Missing in Action, and Failed To Return (FTR) near Merseburg, Germany, after a mid air collision with the B-17G, The Saint, 44-8080, also in the 390th Bomb Group. Both planes crashed near Niederklobikau, Germany. 30 Nov 1944. Missing Air Crew Report 11136. The As-Te-Risk.

42-97407 and 44-8080 collided after 44-8080 was initially hit by flak and lost control, 43-38211 fell to flak on same mission in close proximity but was not involved in the mid-air collision, this according to witnesses cited in MACR's 11131, 11136 and 10831.
