Constituted as 304th Bombardment Wing (Heavy) on 7 December 1943 and activated in Italy on 29 December. Operated with Fifteenth Air Force in the Mediterranean and European theatres from February 1944 until May 1945. Moved to the US, September to October 1945. Inactivated on 13 October 1945.
