After a destructive bombing raid RAF Middle Wallop requisitioned Wallop House in Nether Wallop to accommodate displaced personnel.



When the USAAF arrived there was confusion over the site name and it was decided to give Wallop House the station number 528 in order to differentiate it from the airfield which they called AAF 449.



Now known as Winton House, a care home.
