Shot down 5 November 1943 in B-17 #41-24565 'The Rambling Wreck', Prisoner of War (POW).



At Stalag Luft 17B, the International Red Cross provided log books, and he had one. Before the forced march he wrote in his 'if anyone finds this please send it to me' and included his United States address. He received his journal about 6 months after the end of WWII from an Australian soldier.



Earlier 10/14/43 on return from Schweinfurt mission, with B-17 #42-5482 'Cat O'Nine Tails' running out of fuel landed at Bedfordshire. Crew returned.
