Original 100th in Boise, Idaho. Shot down 10 October 1943 in B-17 #42-30830 M'lle Zig Zag on 19th mission while lead Bombardier to Munster. Retired Col. Combat Engineers

After the war Howard took a degree in Electrical Engineering going on to do a Ph.D at Oklahoma State. His professional life has been mostly in teaching and research; in 1965 he became chief of an USAID project in Chile and was then Chair of the E.E department at the University of Pittsburgh. Howard had stayed on in the Reserves, teaching in the Engineers School at Fort Belvoir and completing the Command and General Staff College course.
