George Harrison Davis
MilitaryCaptain George H Davis served on both the 336th and 335th fighter Squadrons.
He was shot down on 3 March 1945 - he broke an ankle when he baled out of his P-51 44-63599 and landed on a tree stump near Bierdon. He was still nursing his broken ankle when he was released from prisoner of war camp one month later.
Awards: AM (2 OLC), POW, WWII Victory, EAME Campaign.
Post war: remained in USAF, retired as Major.
