Collided with another aircraft 27 May 1944 in B-17 #42102515. Evaded with the help of French Civilians
Grant managed to evade capture, and was hidden by sympathetic French civilians. He was eventually repatriated to Allied forces in England. He left the AAF after the war, married, and raised 4 children. Ernie Grant died in 2007 at age 84.
