Flew in lead plane of the 452nd, April 7, 1945 were hit by German suicide planes. The Germans sent up 120 Me-109s as suicide planes to ram our plane. they lost 105 planes, our groups was given the Presidential Citation for this mission. Flew 30 missions, 17 of these were in the lead plane.
