Flak knocked out two engines of B-17G #42-40006 'Liberty Lady' over the target of Berlin on 6 Mar 1944 and the crew headed toward Sweden and landed on the island of Gotland. Interned. He returned to England in fall of 1944 and flew 12 more missions to complete tour of 30 missions.
