Alesani Airfield, Corsica 10 June 1944 I was given the DFC for getting back from my 10th mission on one engine and we ran out of fuel, brakes shot out and my good engine quit 1/4 of the way down the runway. We crashed, but no one was hurt badly. Everyone else got the Purple Heart. [Your father’s album had] one of the pictures of 7D [after the landing].

Lubbock, Texas 19 October 2012 With great sadness, James A. Littlefield, 92, of Lubbock passed away on Friday, October 19, 2012. James was born on October 17, 1920. He was a loving husband to Faye Williams Littlefield (deceased) and wonderful father to Mike Littlefield. He was the most cherished grandfather to Amy Littlefield Cope, Joseph Cope, Alisa Littlefield Mitchell and Steven Mitchell., and great-grandfather to Trystan Tingberg, Alexis Tingberg, Tucker Cope, Andrew Mitchell, Brynn Mitchell and Lucas Mitchell. He was very proud of his admirable service as a Captain in the United States Air Force and served distinguishably in World War II. He dedicated 34 years of his life to Lubbock National Bank. Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home. The family politely requests casual dress for the service.
