Heath's gravestone has his date of birth as 18 Sept 1924. EVERYTHING else (draft registration card, North Carolina birth index, SSI death file, etc...) has his date of birth as 24 Sept 1918. It would seem whomever ordered the gravestone transposed the numbers "18" and "24." His draft registration was in October 1940. He wouldn't have needed to register then if he were born in 1924 as he only would have just turned 16.
