Mundt, 95, of Reno, Nev., passed away peacefully March 20, 2018. His wife and daughter surrounded him in love. He was born Oct. 19, 1922, to Louis R. Mundt and Gladys Griffin Mundt in Menominee, Mich. Allen graduated from Marinette High School and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (Forestry). Allen was a P-47 fighter pilot in Europe in the Army Air Force in World War II. Allen served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, lived in many places and skied and made friends everywhere. He retired from the Air Force at Stead AFB in Reno before embarking on another career as an educator at the University of Nevada, Reno. Allen was an accomplished outdoorsman who enjoyed the Sierra Nevada mountains, but he always called Wisconsin “back home,” and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. Allen is survived by his wife, Lyn Mundt; his daughter, Karla Mundt, of Reno; his brother, Morris (Grace) Mundt; and nieces: Candace (Bob) Mundt Myers and Carrie (Dave) Mundt Kehoe all of Menominee, Mich. Also surviving are several nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Joann Mundt Walker; and his nephew, Thomas Mundt. A celebration of life will be held in Reno. His ashes will be buried at the Riverside Cemetery. published Marinette EagleHerald, April 18, 2018
