James Jose Hamblin was the pilot of C-47 IB-J 42-24077 of the 77th tcs, 435th troop carrier group.
The aircraft began its mission leaving Welford park airfield at appx 2230 05/06/1944 carrying 21 paratroopers of the 101st airborne div engaged on operation Albany heading for dropzone C, in Normandy.
Sadly at 0120hrs the plane was witnessed being shot down by fellow pilot Jesse Harrison.
There were no survivors.
