He had a grammar school education, was single, without dependents and his civilian occupation was listed as “Jewelers, watchmakers, goldsmiths, and silversmiths.” He became a C-47 Crew Chief and the orders indicate that he participated in Mission DETROIT, and Mission GALVESTON (both in Normandy on D-day); two resupply and evacuation missions, and Operation VARSITY in March of 1945.
