2nd Lieutenant Robert E. Evans was born June 10, 1921. He was the son of John and Bertha Evans, and his hometown was San Pedro, California.

He was serving as copilot of B-26 tail #41-31671 when it went down over the North Sea on return from a mission to Venlo, Holland, on February 25, 1944. His unit was the 387th Bomb Group (M), 558th Bomb Squadron.

The remains of LT Evans and his crewmates were never recovered.
