Died

Osnabrück, Germany 12 October 1944 "I saw the #6 ship in our squadron go down. One second they were flying along, and the next second they were one solid mass of flame from the leading edge of the wings on back to the tail. One wing broke off and they nosed into a spin. Then the tail broke off at the rear bomb bay bulkhead. I don't think anyone could have possibly got out, except maybe the navigator. It looked like flames might have been on the flight deck too. It's not so bad to get knocked down when you have a chance to bail out, but those boys didn't have a chance..." - Paul W. Perry, Pilot of Crew #472 leading the squadron behind the Bailey Crew
