Assigned to 613BS, 401BG, 8AF USAAF, Op's Officer. Took over command of 614BS when Major Eveland was shot down. Completed 25 x combat missions. Upon return after leave, became group Op's Officer for 351BG. Completed a further 6 x combat missions.



Awards: DFC (OLC), AM (2OLC), Croix de Guerre, WWII Victory, EAME.



Post war: Remained in USAF, serving in Korean conflict and rising to rank of Colonel. Elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1959.
