Flew twenty one missions. Shot down 1 May 1944 on 21st mission over Brussells, Belgium, in B-17 #42-37949 'Sunrise Serenade'. Pilot Francis Smedley killed, others in German prison camp. Prisoner of War (POW) until liberated April 1945.
