Wounded in action 25 July 1943. Credited with shooting down 2 German Fighters and flew 25 missions with the 335th Bomb Squadron. He flew his plane back to base after the pilot was killed. After completing a War Bond Tour and training crews, he returned as a Bombardier with the 9th AAF on A26.
