Died

Gulfport, MS 3 October 2004 Dr. B.Z. Byrd, 85, of Long Beach died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at Garden Par Medical Center in Gulfport. A retired Baptist minister, he had served in the U.S. Air Force (ret.) and was a member of Faith Chapel Baptist Church. He was a Mason and a Shriner. Dr. Byrd was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Mary Blackledge Byrd; three brothers; and his son, Mike Byrd. He is survived by his wife, Cammie L. Byrd of Long Beach; his son, Don Ulmer of Long Beach; his daughters, Joyce Rowell of Pass Christian, Barbara Key of Grandberry, Texas and Betty Altom of Long Beach; his brothers, Joe Byrd and Mack Byrd, both of Laurel; his sisters, Lorena Yarbrough, Dot Rustin, Bertha Herrington and Audie Herrington, all of Laurel; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 6 p.m.-9 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home, Ellisville. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Faith Chapel Church with the Revs. David Parker and Dennis Middleton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Masons. Jones Funeral Home, Ellisville, is in charge of arrangements.(aged 85)
