Born

Escandido, California, USA 9 April 1926 After completing High school Arthur enlisted. He was trained in Dalhart, Texas as a ball turret gunner. Subsequently he was sent to Framingham, England where he was attached to the 571 bomb squad. He only served on four missions. It is believed that the odds of survival for missions during that time was an average of one in four. On Arthur's fourth mission, he flew with crew 64 on Decture Deb May 28 1944. They were to take out a synthetic oil factory in Magdeburg, Germany. While in transport, they experienced some mechanical issues, but the decision was made to continue. Just outside of Magdeburg they went under attack head on with the Germans. The plane landed just outside of Ebendorf, Arthur was KIA. He was buried in Magdeburg on D-Day June 6, 1944. He was later moved to Lorraine/ Saint-Avold.
