Notes: Beginning of Operation STARKEY designed to target important Luftwaffe airfields to contain enemy forces in the West to prevent them from being transferred to the Eastern Front and dress rehearsal for Pas-de-Calais invasion. The Allies hope to lure the Luftwaffe to attack bomber formations so that their aircraft and pilots can be destroyed.
