Lt Gaines broke an ear drum and was stood down from flying. Lt Cavaleri was removed from the crew soon after arriving at Bassingbourn to bcome a lead bombardier; he was killed in action over Berlin on 3 February 1945. The rest of the crew flew with F/O Louis C. Marpil on 16 August 1944 on a mission to Halle. Sgt Tyson was killed on this mission. (Elliot Winston)
