IMAGEFire crew attend to the crash site of P-38 Lightning (CG-O, serial number 42-67667) at Duxford air base. The aircraft was being flown by Second Lieutenant Robert N. Gore, formerly of the 84th Fighter Squadron, 78th Fighter Group, but reassigned to 310th Ferrying Squadron of the 27th Ferrying Group. The P-38 belonged to the 38th Fighter Squadron of 55th Fighter Group. 10 February 1944. Printed caption on reverse of print: '72322 AC - This Lockheed P-38 piloted by 2nd Lt. Lobert N. Gore, New York City, N.Y. of the 84th Fighter Squadron, 78th Fighter Group, crashed after buzzing the field at 8th Air Force Station F-357 in Duxford, England.'
