IMAGEColonel Don Blakeslee pretends to brief the 4th Fighter Group in a scene staged for the benefit of 'Illustrated' magazine's cameraman at Debden shortly after D-Day. A few days after this photograph was taken, Blakeslee navigated his group 1600 miles to Russia during the shuttle mission purely by dead-reckoning - the wartime feat of which he was most proud.
