On 3 Feb 1944, B-24D #41-24192 'Dogpatch Raider' lost an engine and aborted during a mission to Emden and during the landing attempt, a/c appeared to lose control and crash near Hempnall. Killed in Action (KIA). Died 5 Feb 1944 from injuries.
