Richard K O'Hara
MilitaryAccumulated over 6,000 hours as pilot/co-pilot in approximately 35 different types of aircraft during military and civilian flying career. Completed 25 combat missions over Germany in WW II as Pilot of B-17 'Scarlet' #42-5720 from January to July 1943. Held many high level positions with the Air Force during his 24 years of active duty service including that of base Commander in Iwo Jima.
DFC, Air Medal w/3Oak Leaf Cluster, WW II Victory Medal, National Defense Medal, American Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign Medal with one bronze star, AF Commendation Medal
He was afterwards Deputy Director of Civil Defence in Smyrna GA.
