Neil G Duell
MilitaryPrisoner of War (POW) crashed near Ruhland on 2 Mar 45 in B-17 #4297979. He had broken his neck when his parachute landed right in the middle of Luftwaffe airfield. After three weeks in hospital he was taken to a small camp for Russian POWs but the war was in its final throes and the guards just seemed to 'disappear'. Duell and two other men decided to walk out and they soon joined up with the liberating American forces.
