• As the Chief Engineering officer of the 444th Sub Depot at Molesworth, Major McCoy was routinely commended for his outstanding devotion to duty in keeping the B-17’s of the 303rd Bomb Group. flying. He and his men were constantly performing outstanding engineering feats to repair battle-damaged B-17s and return them to duty.

His oral history is recorded with 303rd B. G. Association.
