Larry Putgenter served a flight engineer/top turret gunner with the 714th Bomb Squadron of the 448th Bomb Group, flying missions out of Seething, England.
He joined the Squadron on 1 January 1944 and went on to complete 31 missions over Europe. He took part in first large-scale daylight bombing raid over Berlin on 6 March 1944, so-called 'Black Monday' because of the losses suffered by the USAAF.
After the war, Larry returned to work for Heer Bros, Mechanical, a mechanical contracting firm, and was steadily promoted, eventually becoming the president of the company. He married Catherine Morris, and together they raised three children.
