Joseph P Fodor
MilitaryCapt Fodor graduated from Cornell University in 1942. He was an original member of the 575th Bombardment Squadron (Medium), 391st Bombardment Group (Medium). As such, on February 15, 1944, he flew on the unit's first combat mission when it targeted the airfield at Beaumont-le-Roger, France. He flew his final combat mission (his 67th) on September 14, 1944, when the group targeted strong points at Fort Quelern and Mozart/Gozon, France. After World War II, he continued to serve on active duty in the United States Army Air Forces and then the United States Air Force when it became a separate service in 1947. His post-WWII service spanned both the Korean and Vietnam War time frames. He retired from the United States Air Force in June 1966 in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel having been promoted to that rank in 1963.
