Shot down on 28 Sep 44 in P-51 'Copperhead' 44-13932. He was killed on this day after a mission to Magdeburg, Germany. The plane crashed into a barn just outside Schladen and the family went to Germany in 2000 and met with the lady who directed the removal of Lt. DuPont's body from the plane.
