1st Lieutenant James W. Brown was born August 11, 1924, the son of Carl P. Brown. He had a sister, Agnes Ida Smith. His hometown was Albuquerque, New Mexico.

He was the pilot of B-24 tail #42-50749 of the 491st Bomb Group, 853rd Bomb Squadron. On March 24, 1945, his bomber was shot down over Wesel, Germany. The entire crew was killed.

LT Brown is buried at the US Military Cemetery at Neuville-en-Condroz, Belgium.
