Assigned to 76TCS, 434TCG, 9AF USAAF. Co-pilot of Horsa LG834, landed in field near Ste Mere-Eglise, hit anti glider obstacle causing damage to cockpit and forward fuselage, crew wounded in landing. Suffered compound fracture of left leg and was shot in lower neck. Initially had 1st aid from airborne troops, later fell into enemy hands. Killed in Action (KIA). MACR 7241
